Mason Brown is a specialist whose path to football is anything but conventional. Originally a soccer player, Brown did not begin playing football until his junior year of high school. Despite the late start, he quickly developed into one of the most accomplished kickers in his school’s history. In just two seasons at Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio, Brown broke six school kicking records, earned All-League honors, and helped lead his team to the State Championship game in consecutive seasons, finishing as state runner-up both years.
Following high school, Brown bet on himself by attending the University of Akron and pursuing opportunities to walk on at the Division I level. During his first tryout, he successfully connected on 40 consecutive field goals, demonstrating the accuracy and composure that have become his trademarks. After multiple additional tryouts without earning a roster spot, Brown transferred to Walsh University to continue pursuing his football career.
At Walsh, Brown made an immediate impact during the 2020 COVID season and the 2021 season, setting the school record for most field goals made in a season while also tying the conference record. His consistency and reliability under pressure became defining characteristics of his game.
One of Brown’s greatest strengths is his composure in high-pressure situations. Specialists often receive only a few opportunities per game, and Brown has proven capable of delivering when it matters most. Throughout his playing career, he has never missed a fourth-quarter go-ahead or game-winning field goal, demonstrating the mental discipline and focus required at the professional level.
Brown has continued to pursue professional opportunities through NFL Pro Day participation and multiple tryouts, maintaining his commitment to improving his craft and competing at the highest level possible.
Off the field, Brown is a creative storyteller and entrepreneur. He is a published author of the fantasy novel Tales of Eleutheria and continues to develop additional writing projects, including scripts for film and television. He also operates a growing YouTube presence and enjoys creating content centered around sports and entertainment.
Faith plays a central role in Brown’s life. The son of a pastor, he remains actively involved in church ministry and community service. His favorite verse, 2 Samuel 6:14 — “Then David danced before the Lord with all his might,” reflects the mindset he carries both in football and in life: to give his full effort in every opportunity placed before him.
