Client bio

Jordan Baxter is a 5'10", 195-pound wide receiver and return specialist from Burlington, New Jersey, whose football journey has been defined by resilience, versatility, and an unwavering belief in the next opportunity.

A New Jersey native, Baxter began playing football at five years old and initially took the field as a running back before transitioning to wide receiver in high school. At Holy Cross, he developed into a standout offensive player, earning two All-South Jersey selections, two All-Conference honors, and Offensive MVP recognition. A multi-sport athlete, Baxter also competed in basketball and track, experiences that helped develop the athleticism, footwork, coordination, and competitiveness he would later bring to the receiver position.

Baxter began his collegiate career at Morgan State before returning home, refocusing academically, and ultimately transferring to Widener University. His path was not a conventional one, but it became an important part of the player and person he is today.

After initially contributing primarily as a return specialist at Widener, Baxter earned a larger offensive role through persistence and offseason preparation. His breakthrough came when he entered the second game of his sophomore season during a game-winning drive and caught the game-winning touchdown. He went on to record 25 receptions for 360 yards and six touchdowns that season after earning a starting role.

Baxter followed that performance with what he called his “statement year,” establishing himself as one of Widener's primary offensive weapons. He recorded 850 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, led the team in receiving yards for the second consecutive season, and earned All-Conference recognition.

His final collegiate season brought another test. After missing fall camp following a significant health setback and later suffering an ankle sprain, Baxter returned to the lineup and scored a touchdown on his first play back. Despite the interruptions, he finished the season with 450 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while again leading Widener in receiving yards.

Across his Widener career, Baxter recorded 98 receptions for 1,480 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. In addition to wide receiver, his football background includes experience at running back, cornerback, safety, and both kick and punt returner. His last reported 40-yard dash was 4.53 seconds.

Following the conclusion of his collegiate career in 2024, Baxter remained connected to football through coaching at Widener, but being around the game reinforced something he already knew: he still wanted to play.

Away from football, Baxter earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Widener University and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rider University. His work and education have also fueled an interest in mental health, particularly helping athletes and others navigate adversity, identity, and challenging periods in their lives.

Baxter describes his approach as a “next play mentality.” Whether facing an injury, a setback, a mistake, or an unexpected change in direction, his focus is on learning from what happened, controlling his response, and preparing for the next opportunity.

Now pursuing the next chapter of his playing career, Baxter brings more than athletic ability to a prospective organization. He brings maturity earned through adversity, a team-first approach, versatility, competitive drive, and an appreciation for opportunities that he no longer takes for granted.

For Jordan Baxter, the objective is simple: get back on the field, compete, contribute to winning football, and prove that his story as a player is not finished.

character reference

To Whom It May Concern,

Jordan Baxter is a resilient, thoughtful, and highly motivated young man whose character has been shaped as much by the obstacles he has encountered as by his accomplishments on the football field.

One of Jordan's most notable qualities is his ability to respond constructively to adversity. His athletic career has included changes in schools, competition for playing time, injuries, personal setbacks, and moments when his future in football was uncertain. Rather than allowing those experiences to define him negatively, Jordan has consistently demonstrated a willingness to evaluate himself, make adjustments, work harder, and move forward.

He refers to this approach as his “next play mentality.” It is an appropriate description of the way he carries himself both on and off the field. Jordan understands that mistakes and setbacks are inevitable, but he believes an individual's response to those moments is ultimately more important than the moment itself.

Jordan also demonstrates a level of self-awareness that is valuable in a competitive environment. He is willing to acknowledge areas in which he has needed to mature and does not attempt to present his journey as perfect. Instead, he takes ownership of his experiences and recognizes how they have contributed to his development. That accountability, combined with his determination to improve, speaks strongly to his coachability and personal growth.

Beyond athletics, Jordan has demonstrated a genuine interest in people and in serving others. After earning his undergraduate degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology, he continued his education by pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He describes himself as someone others frequently turn to when they are struggling, and he takes pride in listening, helping people work through problems, and offering perspective.

That empathy complements his competitive nature. Jordan wants to succeed and holds himself to high standards, but his ambitions are not limited to personal recognition. He has expressed an interest in supporting mental health awareness, youth sports and development, youth mentorship and education, and domestic violence prevention and healthy relationships.

As Jordan pursues the next opportunity in his football career, he does so with greater maturity and perspective than when his collegiate journey began. He understands the value of an opportunity, the responsibility that comes with representing a team or organization, and the work required to earn and maintain a role.

Jordan Baxter should be viewed not simply as an athlete pursuing another chance to play football, but as a young man who has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to grow through adversity. His resilience, empathy, competitiveness, accountability, and commitment to personal development are qualities that can positively contribute to a locker room, organization, and community.
